mistrial in a murder case
December 2024
A mistrial was declared in a murder case when the jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict after nearly three days of deliberations. It was later learned that the vote was 11-1 for not guilty with one hold out preventing a full acquittal. The State made a new offer for a manslaughter conviction that our client chose to take rather than risk a murder conviction when the case was tried again.
